There was festivity and celebration October 7th at the St. Paul’s Catholic School 5th Annual Hispanic Fiesta. Interesting performances and songs were performed by the eager student body, and there was plenty of delicious food to go around.
The creative force behind the celebration was Mrs. Sonia Nikolai, St. Paul’s Spanish teacher. “We all worked like a team—the various teachers, students and parents—and created something good, because we accomplished it together,” said Mrs. Nikolai.
The social hall was lively with traditional foods, decorations, and music. A few lucky sixth graders took home “gold” at the 5th Annual Salsa Contest, adding a bit of spice to the party. Middle schoolers also reenacted the touching story of Saint Rose of Lima, which won over the audience rapidly. Everyone had a great time, and the fiesta was a huge accomplishment.
“I think it gives the kids an understanding of how our Church ministry relates to so many of the Latin countries,” said Mrs. Staley, principal of St. Paul’s. “It was great to see such a successful turnout.”
Next year’s fiesta will add to the tradition at St. Paul’s, adding more countries and cultures to the mix.
