Last week, the Catholic Community of St. Paul’s joined in a community food drive to fill the local food banks.  The student body worked with the faculty to construct a large “can” sculpture celebrating the 50th anniversary of St. Paul’s Catholic School.

“Making a difference…that’s why we wanted to be a part of the project,” replied Mrs. Miller, the St. Paul’s teacher and coordinator.  “Can-struction utilizes the donated food items to construct something.  In this case, we wanted to recreate our 50th anniversary logo.”

Mrs. Miller views the project as a success, bringing in over 600 cans of food in such a short time span.  She sees a future for similar projects.  “Hopefully, we’ll see more competition on a larger scale for the benefit of our community—a canned construction competition between classes,” she said. “It’s a great way to be creative and give back to the community, too.”
